Akon Tip Leona Lewis for US Success
posted on Feb 18, 2008 by Dewa

Akon recently has set out a praise for Leona Lewis, by tipping her for a success in her upcoming US debut.

Akon was featured on Leona's album in a song called 'Forgive Me', which was a new song for the US release on her album 'Spirit'. After working together on the single, Akon believes that she won't have no problem on "catching the eye" of the american market.

Akon was not the only musician to tip Lewis for US success. Last season American Idol champion Jordin Sparks has the same opinion as Akon is.

Akon Pleads No Guilty for Fan-Tossing Incident
posted on Dec 03, 2007 by Admin

Akon pleaded not guilty for fan-tossing criminal charges he got for the KFEST in Fishkill, last June.

Billboard reports, Akon was "released on his own recognizance following his brief court appearance in the Dutchess County town." He was charged with misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a minor andsecond-degree harassment, a violation and the case was adjourned until January.

A town justice told Akon that he does not have to appear in court the next time, only his lawyer has. Akon did not comment as he left the courthouse. "Itwas never Akon's intention to violate the law," his Manhattan lawyer, Benjamin Brafman, said in a written statement released to the media. "This unfortunateincident was a spontaneous reaction during a live concert that Akon deeply regrets."

Akon to Face Charges from Concertgoer
posted on Nov 30, 2007 by Kathy Lee

Akon has been charged for fan-tossing incident, according to a press release issued by Town of Fishkill Police Chief Donald F. Williams. The incident goes back in June, where Akon tossed a 15-year-old fan off the stage at KFEST. 'Kon was charged with endangering the welfare of a minor, a misdemeanor and second-degree harassment, a violation. He is scheduled to appear at 9 a.m. Monday in Town of Fishkill Court for arraignment on the two charges, Williams said.

But it wasn't the boy whom he thrown that filed the charge. Abby Rosa of Delaware County, on whom the 15-year-old landed after Akon tossed him, retained an attorney and spoke to the Fishkill police department days after it occurred. Rosa said she suffered a headache and was later diagnosed with a concussion.

Williams said in the press release that charges were filed against Akon, "After an extensive investigation and consultation with the Dutchess County District Attorneys Office."

PS: Michael Jackson's "Thriller - 25th Anniversary Edition" album, that features rendition from will.i.am, Akon, and Kanye West is set to due Feb 12 via Epic/Legacy Recordings, Billboard reports. Here's the rendition list:

Akon Took Dubai Show Home for MTV
posted on Nov 21, 2007 by Kathy Lee

Akon took the show home during MTV Arabia's launch event in Dubai, making the full house, including the sheikhs, stood up at fever pitch. Read Tim Kash' report below:

"...And if [Ludacris' performance] wasn't enough, it was Akon's turn. At this point, the crowd was at fever pitch, and with a little coaxing, the full house (including the sheikhs) stood up as Akon took the show home. He certainly did his thing giving the Middle East a taster of what they can expect from him when he returns on tour in a few months. It was an awesome launch, bringing in a new era to the Middle East, with a vision to one day launch a new internationally successful music star from the region. If you had said that MTV would be launching a channel here 10 years ago, they would have said it was impossible. Not anymore!"

The show opened with UEA-based rap group Desert Heat, followed by Middle East's "answer to Justin Timberlake" Karl Wolf. Wolf then trailed by major boys, Ludacris, who performed "a mixture of new and old hits" and Akon, who gave a "taster" of his upcoming Middle East tour.
